This trip is not for the faint in heart or weak of knee. Two days of hard travel into the high Andes Mountains precede the medical clinic and evangelistic work.

The Peru Mission Trip began in 2001, and is the longest running trip that FBCJ has done. A trip has been made every year since 2001, and two were made in 2005.

The trip began as a hiking trip to pass out the Bible in the Quechua Language to the native inhabitants of the high Andes Mountains. Seeing the many needs of the Quechua People, the very next year in 2002, FBCJ sent a Medical Mission Team to the same area to begin a Medical Ministry, with a Spiritual emphasis. Since those beginning trips, many things have evolved to make the trip a better experience for the Quechua, as well as the volunteers, and to make their efforts more expansive and far reaching.

Since this trip began, over 200 volunteers have hiked and driven many miles to visit and care for the spiritual and physical health of the Quechuas, and over 5000 souls have prayed to know more about the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. It has been a very worthwhile effort on the part of our Church, for the Quechua, as well as the volunteers. Many made multiple trips to the area.

The Medical Team takes in medicines needed, reading glasses are fitted and pased out, we have Dentists, Doctors, Pharmacists, Nurses, and many willing volunteer helpers, and young people help to make this a very successful ministry.

The Missionaries in the area are saying that the fields are really beginning to become ripe for harvest, but it has taken years of planting to arrive at this point. Team members have had the chance to work with Jim and Ellen Wroughton, Wycliffe Translators for the Bible, and also, the Southern Baptist Missionaries that are on the ground in these areas.

In 20011, 18 went from our Church, 8 new high school graduates, 1 college student, a 3rd year Medical Student, a Doctor, Pharmacist, and 6 other willing to help adults, which are a necessity.

It was one of the best trips ever! We were able to see over 1000 Quechua Indians and try to meet their physical and spiritual needs, and over 500 committeed to know more about Christ. This area is oe of the most beautiful areas of mountains in the world, as there are over 22 peaks over 20,000 feet in elevation.
