God has been GOOD to our church. Over the last
few months 56 people have joined. Three of those new members will
be baptized next Sunday! New Sunday
School classes have been organized to give added opportunities to
reach people. God has also provided more parking space for future
growth.
Even with all the new faces and families, there are
many more people in our community that God intends for us to reach.
To aid in
our outreach we
will begin even more new classes in the next few months. These new
classes will include a ladies class, a men's class, and a class
for those who want to walk through a book of the Bible verse
by verse with no set time frame for completion. As we continue to grow,
new preschool,
children, and youth classes will be needed.
On Sunday May 11, we will be privledged
to hear our children's choir sing a few songs from their upcoming
musical. The next Sunday night,
May 18th, 6:00
p.m., our children will perform the musical at the downtown campus.
Everyone is invited to attend and support our children. I want to thank
Michael and Gina Gibson, Ellen Hazlewood, and Linda Wyatt who
have done an excellent
job every Wednesday night teaching children to sing praises to God.
Late this week each member of our church will receive
a ministry opportunity information sheet. This is a follow up
to our initial sign ups a couple
of weeks ago. This information will contain various ways members
can plug into service through our church. It will also have brief
descriptions of what each ministry team does. I am asking that
all of our members
complete
a form and return it so we can begin forming ministry teams. We
would like to have all teams active before the new church year
kicks off in August.
If you have any questions please let me or Austin know.
Vacation Bible school will be held June
23 - 27. Registration forms are available at the VBS display located
in the hallway just outside
the worship center. Also, registration
is available online. All children who are entering kindergarten
- completed sixth grade are encouraged to attend. Cactus Cayon
will kickoff with a "Hoe Down" on Sunday, June 22 from
6 - 8 p.m. We will have Hamburgers/Hot Dogs, a hayride and other
activities to kick off Bible School. Mark your calendars and plan
to attend these wonderful events.
The theme for Vacation Bible School this year is Cactus Canyon. We are in need of anything pertaining
to cowboys or the wild west. If you have anything we can borrow for decorations (saddle,
hay bails, cowboy hats, boots, rope, wagon wheels, etc) please see Stacy
Huff or Amy Farris. We will need the items by June 15th and they will be
returned after Bible School.
